History of AJP!
A boy named António Pinto in 1981, who was only 22 years old, opened a motorcycle workshop, which specialized in modifyingenduro and off-road motorcycles.
To brothers Antonio and Jorge, they makes ours motorbikes. Antonio Jorge Pinto (AJP)
In 1987 AJPmotos was create and the first presented motorbike was called Ariana, equipped with a 125cc two-stroke engine by Casal, bearing the Antonio´s daughter´s name, who was born in the same year. It was made in a limited series of 25. Original technical solutions, which will be used in future models, were already presented.
In 1991 AJP started cooperation with PETROGAL (Portuguese Oil Company – Currently Galp Energy). The most important results was the development of Ajp Galp equipped with a 50cc two-stroke engine and a wide range of synthetic oils for two-stroke engines. And also testing unleaded gasoline.
Ajp participated in the National Enduro Championship with the Galp 50. They winning 5 titles between 1996 and 2000. Also Ajp participated in the National Baja Championship with victories in 1996, 1997, 1999.
2001 was an important year for AJP, because the presentation of the AJP PR4 with 125cc 4-stroke engine in whitch there was also a current innovation. PR4 125cc was the begining of Ajp´s export activity. The first bikes were shipped to European countries , such as France, Germany, United Kingdom.
In 2003 Ajp was moved to a new factory in Lousada. After in 2004 presented a new version of the PR4 with a 200cc and 4-stroke engine (and the same components as the original 125cc model).
In 2007 Ajp expanded his business to Spain, Poland, Italy, Grecce.
In 2007 also was launched Ajp PR3 200cc MX. With a new frame concept developed by Ajp with aluminium beams bolted to a steel cradle. Only 89kg. PR3 became the lightest 4-stroke 200cc enduro motorbike in the world with its short wheelbase providing the agility of a competition bike.
In 2009 Ajp get a new partner AICEP Capital Global to the project. They participation provided the company with necessary financial resources to further develop his expansion plan.
In late 2009 came PR5 series with eu homologation for road use. Engine from PR5 was equipped with an electronic fuel injection system and all of the techlonogy was developed by Ajp.
In 2016 Ajp unveiled a new bike prototype, more specifically like a big trial bike. Which later became PR7.
In 2018 revolutionary in his own class. PR7 which born quickly gains traction among the enduro fans from this year on. On Enduro Championships presence Ajp gains momentum and it becomes clear. Ajp is here to stay. These bikes are constantly evolving.
In 2019 Ajp´s new prototypes arrive to The Italian Motorshow. Performance tests was started. The SPR-line sees a future. In order to fulfill all the racing criteria that Ajp belives in.
In 2019 came dealership to Norway.
In 2020 was SPR-line launched and PR7. The presence in International Championships begins to be noticed. Ajp makes horizons and markets open up for whole Ajp.
